Closures

Closed roads, spotted early

Officially closed roads show on the map as red and white barrier tape, and ArcRoute routes around them on its own, when you plan and every time it recalculates mid-ride. Live across Czechia.

  • From the traffic centre. The national source where road authorities file closure permits. Every road class, the whole country.

  • Only what stops a bike. A lane closure or a lorry-only ban never sends you the long way round.

  • Around it, on its own. At planning and on every reroute, without a tap.

The worst closure is the one you meet at the end of a valley. ArcRoute knows about it before you set off, and again the moment it is lifted.

How it works

Where the closures come from

Official data, filtered to what matters to a motorcycle, applied to the route without asking.

Live from the national traffic centre

Closures come from where road authorities file their permits: motorways, main roads and the backroads you want to ride.

  • Planned and sudden. Roadworks filed weeks ahead, and roads shut right now.
  • The whole of Czechia. Every road class, updated as closures are issued and lifted.
  • Beyond the border, no tape. Closures are Czechia only for now.

Only what stops a motorcycle

ArcRoute keeps the closures that genuinely shut a road to a bike and drops the rest.

  • A lane closure is not a closure. You ride on.
  • A lorry ban is not yours. It never reroutes you.
  • Barrier tape on the map. White with red stripes, so a closed road reads as one at a glance.

Routed around, at planning and mid-ride

When ArcRoute plans a route, and every time it recalculates one on the road, it steers around closed roads; Avoid closures sits with the other route toggles.

  • No tap needed. The detour is part of the route, not a warning to dismiss.
  • Same at every Twisty step. A closure counts as heavily at Wild as at Direct.
  • Rerouting needs a signal. Like any recalculation; the tape on the map stays.

No dead ends at the end of the valley

Plan the ride and let ArcRoute steer around what is closed today, so the only surprises left are the good ones.

Questions about closures

All questions and support

Where do the closures come from?

From the Czech national traffic centre, the same place road authorities file their closure permits. That covers motorways, main roads and small backroads, both roadworks planned weeks ahead and roads shut right now.

Does it work outside Czechia?

Not yet. Routing reaches much further, but the closure data is Czech, so outside Czechia you ride without the striped lines and without the automatic avoidance.

Will a lane closure send me the long way round?

No. ArcRoute keeps only the closures that genuinely shut a road to a motorcycle and drops the rest, lane closures and lorry-only bans included.

How current is it?

Live. A closure shows as soon as it is issued and its stretch of road is confirmed, and goes the moment it is lifted.

Can I turn the avoidance off?

Yes. Avoid closures is a toggle next to highways, ferries and tolls in the route settings. The tape on the map stays either way.

Does it reroute mid-ride when a road closes?

Not by itself: a closure that turns up on the route you are already riding does not interrupt you. Every recalculation takes the current closures into account, though, so the next reroute steers around a road that closed after you set off. Recalculating needs a signal, like any reroute.
